DHAKA: Miscreants shot dead a former Awami League lawmaker’s nephew at Central Road in city’s Dhanmondi area early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Obaidul Haque, 35, nephew of former Awami League MP Nurul Islam BSc from Chittagong-9 constituency.
   
Obaidul worked as a manager of Kwality Ice Cream Company, a concern of Sanowara Group, and resided at house no. 57 North Circular Road in Kalabagan.

Kalbagan Thana Officer-In-Charge M Iqbal told banglanews that three miscreants, riding a motorcycle, shot in the head of Obaidul while he was crossing the Central Road of Dhanmondi, near to the Thana, by a rickshaw around 12:45am, leaving him severely injured.

On information, police rescued Obaidul and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries around 2:30am.

DMCH police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector Sentu Chandra Das confirmed the matter of the death to banglanews.
