DHAKA: The Supreme Court fixed Thursday for hearing the appeal filed seeking stay on the bail granted to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three Paltan Thana cases.
The full Appellate bench, led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, has set the date in response to the government appeal on Monday morning.
Later in the day, Chamber Judge Court of Justice Hasan Foez Siddique sent the petition to the full bench.
However, the appellate division on Sunday upheld the bail order of High Court (HC) in three cases of creating sabotage filed with Paltan and Matijheel Thanas.
Earlier on June 21, Justice Mohammad Reza-ul Haque and Justice Mohammad Khasruzzaman of the High Court bench granted Fakhrul’s bail in three violence cases.
Paltan Thana police filed the cases on January 4 and 6 against the BNP leader for creating sabotage in Paltan area during BNP-led 20-party alliance called nationwide hartal.
On January 6, police arrested Fakhrul from the premises of National Press Club in city.
