DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Bokhtiar Alam Rony, son of Awami League MP Pinu Khan, on a two-day remand in a double murder case.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Haque passed the order after holding a hearing in the morning after IO (investigation officer) of the case Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Dipak Kumar Das had pleaded for a seven-day remand on June 28 (Sunday).

Earlier, police quizzed him by taking on remand from June 9 to 12 and June 24 to 27.

However, an auto-rickshaw driver Yakub Ali and a rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim were killed in a random firing from a black Land Cruiser Prado in city’s New Eskaton area around 1:45am on April 14.

MP Pinu Khan’s son Rony is said to have fired on them after being annoyed with “traffic jam” at midnight while he was “on drugs”.

Rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim’s mother filed the case two days after the incident with Ramna Thana.
