Voting in Magura Sadar Upazila by-poll ends

MAGURA: Counting in by-polls to Magura Sadar Upazila is underway as voting ended on Tuesday.

The election started at 8:00pm and continued till 4:00pm without any break.

Ruling Awami League (AL)-backed candidate Rostam Ali and BNP-supported are fighting with the symbols of ‘horse’ and ‘motorbike’ respectively.

Returning officer Syed Rabiul Islam told banglanews that voting continued at 105 centers.

Two platoons Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), three platoons Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) along with police members have been deployed in the poll area.

The post of chairman was vacant after Magura Sadar Upazila Parisad chairman Nazim Uddin (70) had died of cancer on April 22.
