DHAKA: The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the High Court order that granted bail to BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Shamsuzzaman Dudu in multiple sabotage cases.

The four-member appellate division bench led-by Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order after hearing the state petition.

BNP joint secretary general Rizvi got final bail in five out of eight sabotage cases. Of the three case, the apex court also stayed bail order of him in a case.

But, hearing of two cases is scheduled to be held in next week.

On the other hand, BNP chairperson’s adviser Dudu’s bail order was upheld in four cases, say his lawyers.

Earlier on July 8, the High Court granted bail to the two BNP leaders for six months in multiple vandalism and arson cases.

Rizvi got bail in eight cases while Dudu in seven.

Later, state appealed before the apex court seeking stay on the HC orders.
