BARISAL: Eight BNP leaders and activists including former lawmaker Abul Hossain have been sent to jail on Tuesday.

District session court judge Mohammad Anwarul Haque made the order rejecting the plea of the BNP men, who surrendered to the court on the day.

Barisal court bench assistant Faruque Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The other arrestees were Maqbul Khan, Kuddus Mia, Nazrul Islam, Siraj Mia, Jewel, Shahjahan Khan and Shahin Sikdar.

However, they are accused in a violence case filed by the police following the incidents of arson attacks on January 26, during the BNP-led 20-party alliance imposed nationwide hartal and blockade.
