SYLHET: Police detained 10 leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, including its Sylhet unit Ameer Ahsanul Mahbub Jubayer, while coming out of a mosque after holding a clandestine meeting on Thursday night.

The detainees include—Jamaat leaders Abdus Sabur, Ahmad Al Masud, Mir Hossain, Jaynal Abedin, Delwar Hossain Jamil, Mahmud Ahmad, Murshed Alam, Abdullah Al Mumin and Ahmad Hossain.

Sylhet metropolitan Shah Paran thana officer-in-charge (OC) Monirul Islam told banglanews that Jamaat leaders are going to holding a secret meeting in the mosque after Isha prayers. Police took position surrounding the mosque.

The leaders were caught around 10:30pm while they were coming out of the mosque after holding the meeting. All the detainees are leaders of Sylhet metropolitan unit Jamaat-e-Islami, the OC added.
