CHANDPUR: District court sent three BNP leaders including its district unit coordinator Sheikh Farid Ahammed Makin to jail in Chandpur on Tuesday.

The others were town unit BNP general secretary Akhtar Hossain Mahji and district unit Jubo Dal general secretary Afzal Hossain.

Chandpur senior judicial magistrate court judge Muttakin Billah passed the order this afternoon.

Defending lawyer Qamrul Islam told banglanews that the defenders were on bail from the High Court.

‘Being present at the Senior Judicial Magistrate court, the defenders sought for bail,’ Qamrul said, ’denying the bail plea the court ordered to send them to the court’.

Earlier in March, a man was burnt to death as miscreants exploded petrol bomb on a goods-carrying truck in Chandra area. Later, police filed a case mentioning 32 including Sheikh Farid as chief accused and 62 unknown persons.
