FARIDPUR: A bus belonging to a motorcade of Kazi Keramat Ali MP of Rajbari-2 came under attack in sadar upazila of Faridpur district over assaulting driver of a human hauler.

Following the attack, a clash ensued between attackers and leaders-activists of ruling Awami League, leaving at least 10 people of both sides injured.

Witness Prabir Paal, a primary school teacher, said that Kazi Keramat Ali MP along with some leaders-activists, riding by 20 vehicles, was heading towards the tomb of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tugipar to pay tribute to him.

In front of Piarpur godown, a human hauler hit a bus of MP’s motorcade. Then, party leaders-activists beat up the driver, he added.

On information, locals attacked the bus that triggered a clash between two groups. Later, police brought the situation under control.

After the incident, angry mobs blocked the road for half-an-hour putting two trucks in front of Piarpur Godown area in sadar upazila.

Police cleared the blockade after detaining three people and seizing the trucks, said Faridpur additional police super (ASP) Anisuzzaman.

The process is underway to file case in this connection, he added.
