DHAKA: BNP spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon commented that unity between the country’s major political parties is needed for the betterment of democracy.
He made the comment at a press conference at BNP central office on Sunday.
Mentioning Awami League and BNP’s struggle against autocratic rule in the country, Ripon said that the difference between two major parties make threat to democracy.
He believed that the two rival parties will narrow their differences for the sake of democracy.
Mentioning the tragic grenade attack on Awami Leage rally on August 21, he said that BNP also demands justice for the victims of the incident.
‘But, it will be painful if the incident is used to harm the opposition.’
He also expressed his concern for involving BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and senior vice-president Tarique Rahman in the grenade attack incident.
Ripon also announced a three-day program to celebrate BNP founding anniversary and jail release of Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman.
