DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia paid tribute to former president and also party founder Ziaur Rahman at his tomb in city on 37th founding anniversary of the party on Tuesday.
She placed floral wreath on the tomb and offered special prayer for the salvation of the departed soul.
The BNP chief was accompanied by senior leaders including Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Brigadier General (retd) ASM Hannan Shah, Lieutenant General (retd) Mahbubur Rahman and Air Vice-Marshal Altaf Hossain.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed told the media that the government is currently passing an anxious situation.
He hoped that the incumbent government will arrange a free, fair and impartial national election soon.
Earlier in the day, leaders and activists of BNP, its front organizations and BNP-led 20-party alliance reached the place with rallies and paid their tribute to the former president.
