Nazmul Huda’s acquittal order canceled Barrister Nazmul Huda

DHAKA:  The Appellate Division on Monday canceled the High Court (HC) order that had acquitted Barrister Nazmul Huda of an illegal wealth attaining case.

The four-member bench of the apex court led-by Chief Justice SK Sinha passed the order in response to an appeal filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) challenging the HC verdict.

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the ACC.

However, Nazmul Huda was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined Tk 1-crore and in default, one more year jail by a trial court on April 3, 2008.

He was acquitted by the HC on August 18, 2010 in reply to an appeal filed by him.

Later, ACC appealed before the apex court challenging HC order.

The Appealed Division today asked the HC to hear the case again canceling the acquittal order.
