DHAKA: By-election in the parliamentary constituency of ousted posts, telecommunications and Information Technology minister Abdul Latif Siddique will be held in Tangail on October 28.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Raqibuddin Ahmed announced the election schedule at a press conference at Election Commission (EC) media center in city on Tuesday.

According to the CEC, last date for submission of nomination paper is fixed on September 30 while scrutinizing will be held on October 3.

Last date for withdrawal of the candidacy is October 11, he added.

The CEC further said that groups of observers will be allowed to visit the poll centers one after another to ensure the election hassle-free.

About the distribution of Smart ID Cards, Kazi Raqib said that hopefully it (distribution) will begin by the end of this year.
