DHAKA: By-election in the parliamentary constituency Tangail-4 of ousted posts, telecommunications and Information Technology (IT) minister Abdul Latif Siddique has been rescheduled.
The voting date has been shifted from October 28 to November 10, said a gazette notification issued by election secretary M Sirajul Islam on Thursday.
According to notification, last date for submission of nomination paper is fixed on October 11 while scrutinizing will be held on October 13.
Last date for withdrawal of the candidacy is October 21, he added.
EC sources said that many candidates went to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj. They will have limited time in hand to submit their nomination forms. So, the by-poll has been rescheduled.
Earlier on Tuesday at a press conference at Election Commission (EC) media center, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Raqibuddin Ahmed announced Tangial-4 by-poll will be held on October 28.
The CEC further said that groups of observers will be allowed to visit the poll centers one after another to ensure the election hassle-free.
