Bangladesh won’t depend on other’s pity

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh does not want to depend on the pity of others as it would change its fortune by making optimum use of its resources.

The PM made this assertion while addressing a reception at LaGuardia Marriot Mission Hotel yesterday evening. Bangladesh Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Dr AK Abdul Momen hosted the reception in honour of the Prime Minister on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

‘We are committed to ensure sustainable development in the country, so that people can live with honor,’ she vowed.

According to the PM, Bangladesh is moving forward and none will be able to stop this development.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, expatriates’ welfare minister Nurul Islam BSC, foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali and PM’s ICT affairs advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy, among others, were present at the event.
