DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina regretted murder of Italian national and termed ‘unfortunate’ the red alerts issued by a number of foreign countries for their nationals in Dhaka.
She said not only in Bangladesh, vested quarters are trying to create a fearful atmosphere around the world.
People of Bangladesh believe in peace not in militancy, the premier added.
The prime minister came up observation at a press conference in New York on Tuesday evening (NY local time). She has been staying in New York since September 23 to attend United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The UK, US, Canada and Australia issued a travel alert for their citizens and asked them to take whatever precautions they feel necessary.
On Monday, Italian aid worker Tavella was gunned down in Gulshan-2 area of the capital.
