FARIDPUR: At least 30 people were injured as two groups of Saltha Upazila unit of ruling Awami League (AL) locked into clash in Faridpur district on Saturday.
The incident took place in Kagdi Bazar area of Majhardiya union of the upazila this morning.
Locals said that the followers of upazila unit of AL joint general secretary Gias Uddin and Majhardiya Union Parishad AL president and also UP chairman Afsar Uddin locked into the clash over establishing supremacy in the area.
Earlier on Friday, a group of BNP men, led by BNP ward unit president Hobi Mollah, proposed the AL leaders to join the party. On Saturday morning, the AL leaders locked into the clash over through whom the BNP men would join.
The injured were admitted at Nagarkanda Health Centre and Faridpur Medical College and Hospital.
Confirming the matter to banglanews Saltha Thana officer-in-charge (OC) DM Belayet Hossain said that on information, police rushed to the place and took control over the situation.
