NATORE: A man was killed in infighting between two local factions of ruling Awami League (AL) at Singra Upazila of the district Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Hannan, son of one Abdul Karim, hailed from Tiroil village of the upazila.

Local people said Singra Upazila unit AL joint general secretary Arifur Rahman Arif and Muhammad Jinnah from Tiroil village had a longstanding clash.

Meanwhile, they both supports another upazila unit AL leader Shafiqul Islam Shafi, a probable candidate of Singra Upazila by-election.

Around 8:00am on Thursday, supporters of Arifur Rahman Arif and Muhammad Jinnah locked into a clash over tearing posters of Shafiqul Islam Shafi, leaving Hannan dead on the spot.

Singra Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nasir Uddin Mandal told banglanews that on information, they sent police to the spot.

Details will be disclosed later, he added.
