BNP yet to decide over LG polls participation

DHAKA: BNP is yet to take any decision over their participation in the local government elections, said party spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon after party top leaders meeting with Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday night.

Ripon came up with the observations in a press briefing after the meeting that began around 9:10pm and ended around 11:30pm at party chairperson’s Gulshan political office in the city.

The leaders who attended the meeting include standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman, Br Gen (retd) ASM Hannan Shah, Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy.

Besides, vice-chairman Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf, Abdullah Al Noman, Selima Rahman, Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, chairperson’s adviser Dr Osman Faruq, Sabihuddin Ahmed, joint general secretary M Shahjahan, organizing secretary Fazlul Haque Milon, office secretary Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon and youth affairs secretary Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, also were, among others, present  in the meeting.

Ripon further said they discussed about organizing party’s national council, enduring situation in the country and Khaleda Zia’s staying in London.

It was Khaleda Zia’s first meeting with party’s top leaders after returning home from London after two and half months.

On September 15, Khaleda Zia went to London for treatment and returned home on November 21 after treatment of eyes and knee.
