DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) secretary Sirajul Islam on Wednesday said that they have found out some clerical mistakes in the conduct of election rules of approaching municipal elections.

The EC secretary further said symbols will be allocated among the candidates after rectifying the errors.

“Rectification of the Conduct of Election Rules won’t be a problem,” he added.

Sirajul Islam made the assertion while talking to journalist in his secretariat office in city on Wednesday (December 9).

There were some mistakes in several sections and a subsection related to allocation of symbols in the Conduct of Election Rules that the EC published on November 23.

Sirajul Islam considered those errors as “clerical mistakes”.

A competent source said that the EC already has taken the initiative to rectify the error.

Elections in 234 municipal are scheduled to be held on December 30 and December 13 is the deadline for withdrawing candidacy.

Symbols will be allocated among the candidates on December 14.
