BNP men ‘barred’ from submitting nomination papers

DHAKA: BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed alleged leaders and activists of ruling Awami League and its front organizations were barring BNP candidates from submitting their nomination papers for the impending union parisad (UP) polls.

Rizvi made the allegations in a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in city on Tuesday morning (February 23).

He further said UP chairman runners from BNP also were being threatened.

The BNP leader further said local administration did not take actions even after informing them the matter.

Assistant organizing secretary Advocate Abdus Salam and assistant office secretary Asadul Karim Shahin were, among others, present at the conference.
