DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad directed law enforcement agencies to prevent any irregularities in upcoming Union Parisad (UP) elections till the last bullet in their guns.
He issued the order during a meeting with different law enforcing agencies held at National Economic Council (NEC) in city on Thursday (March 3).
The CEC said that the Election Commission (EC) has taken all kinds of preparations for holding the polls in a free and fair manner.
Officials concerned have already been asked to prevent any kind of anarchy centering the election, he added.
Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad claimed that there is no pressure on the commission over the forthcoming six-phase UP elections.
‘The EC is independent’, he added.
Home secretary, four election commissioners, Armed Forces principal staff of officer, police, BGB, Ansar, DGFI, DB and Coastguard, returning and assistant returning officers and representatives from all forces were also present at the meeting.
