LAKSHMIPUR: Two police officials sustained bullet injuries during discharging election duties at Soundara Government Primary School in Ramganj upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon (April 23).

The injured cops were identified as Sub-Inspector (SI) M Selim and Constable Shafi Ullah.

Confirming the matter, assistant superintendent of police in Lakshmipur M Junyed Kawsar told banglanews that the injured were taken to Ramganj Upazila Health Complex.

Later, SI Selim was transferred to Noakhali Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated, he added.

Ramganj Upazila Health Complex medical officer Nasir Uddin said both the cops sustained several bullets.

Junyed Kawsar said they are conducting drives to detain the miscreants.

SI Selim said a miscreant suddenly opened fire to them during discharging duties at the polls center.
