GAZIPUR: A person died in a clash between the supporters of two candidates of during Union Parishad (UP) election in Sreepur upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Abul Khasru (50) of Bartapa area in the upazila.

The clash occurred on Saturday night (April 23).

Locals and police said that the deceased became ill during chase and counter-chase between the supporters of two candidates.

Later, Khasru died on his way to a local hospital.

However, police have sent the body to Gazipur Shahid Tajuddin Ahmad Medical and College Hospital morgue.

Sreepur Thana office-in-charge (OC) informed the matter to banglanews saying that it is initially thought that Khasru died of heart attack as there is no injury mark in the deceased’s body.
