DHAKA: Liberation war affairs minister AKM Mozammel Huq said that Jamaat-e-Islami will be banned from June terming it a party of war criminals.
The minister came up with this assertion while speaking at a discussion on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s homecoming day on May 17 at Sagor-Runi Auditorium in Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in city on Monday (MAY 16).
The proposal in banning Jamaat-e-Islami will be placed in the budget session to begin from June 1, he said at the program organized by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote.
The minister further said the process of confiscating the properties of war criminals in Bangladesh has been started as per the demands of freedom fighters and the examples of other countries.
Mozammel Huq alleged that BNP tried to overthrow the incumbent government with the help of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad and for that BNP awarded Aslam Chowdhury as joint secretary general of the party.
However, the secret mission and identities of the accomplices will be disclosed soon as the detective branch (DB) of police arrested Chowdhury.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote vice-president Danny Sidak, general secretary Falguni Hamid and metropolitan AL former vice-president Foyez Uddin Ahmed, among other, were present at the event, chaired by its president and actor Faruk.
