RANGPUR: Police arrested 45 people, including three activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir, accused in violence cases filed with Mithapukur and Rangpur thanas of the district.
The arrest drives were conducted from Tuesday midnight (May 24) to early morning on Wednesday (May 25).
The three Jamaat activists were identified as Sekendar Ali, 42, son of one Abdul Jalil, Mohammad Abdul Gafur, 32, son of one Ibrahim Mia and Chhatra Shibir activist Maksedul Islam, 25, son of one Lokman Uddin of Mithapukur upazila.
Mithapukur Thana OC Mohammad Humayun Kabir told banglanews that they arrested 45 persons including three Jamaat-Shibir men in accusation of creating violence in the area.
The arrestees have been sent to jail through court, he added.
