FENI: A man was killed and five others, including a police member, sustained gunshot wounds in a clash over elections in Charchandia union parishad under Sonagazi upazila of the district on Saturday (June 4).

The deceased was identified as Nur Hossain Shipon, son of one Abdul Karim, hailed from ward no. 6 of the union parishad.

Confirming the matter, Sonagazi thana OC Humayun Kabir told banglanews that supporters of two councilor candidates locked into a clash at Char Bhairab Haji Tofael Ahmed High School polling center around 11:00am.

During the clash, Nur Hossain Shipon received a gunshot at the center and died instantly, he added.

The injured were rushed to Sonagazi upazila health complex, he added.
