DHAKA: The High Court (HC) granted bail to Chhatra League leader Nurul Azim Rony in a case filed under the arms and explosives act.

An HC bench comprising Justice Habibul Goni and Akram Hossain passed the order on Monday (June 13) two months after his arrest.

Earlier on May 7, a Chittagong court rejected his bail petition. Rony was arrested with a pistol, 15 bullets, Tk 26,000 and a ballot seal from an election centre in Hathazari upazila. 

Later, he was sentenced by a mobile court to two years' imprisonment for violating union Parishad election rules.
