‘Opposition men are being called extremists’

DHAKA: BNP senior joint secretary general Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday (June 17) alleged instead of detaining the real extremists, the government was capturing opposition men and presenting them as extremists.

He made the comment while addressing a round table, organized by Democracy Movement at national press club on freedom of media and current reality.

Mentioning that mass arrest is going on in the country, the BNP central leader said leaders and activists from the opposition are being detained.

“Most of the media are not telling the truth as they are scared of the government or are working in favour of it. The results will not be good.”

He warned the media saying you also won’t be spared by this “autocratic government”.

Besides Rizvi, Kalyan Party secretary general M Aminur Rahman, Swadhinota Forum president Abu Naser Mohammad Rahmatullah and Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, among others, addressed the round table.

Bangla daily newspaper Naya Diganta editor Mohiuddin Alamgir presided over the round table.
