JESSORE: An Awami League (AL) activist was shot dead by party rivals at Mothbari village under Jhikargacha upazila of the district early Tuesday (July 5).

Victim’s brother locals UP member and AL leader Rahazzan Sardar told banglanews that some people led by rival Mahiuddin attacked their house and shot Hasan  while he tried to resist the attackers.

Jhikargacha Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Khabir Uddin told banglanews that there was a prior clash between the groups centering flower business.

The law enforcers suspected that the AL activists might be killed over the clash.

The body was sent to the Jessore 250-bed General Hospital morgue, the OC said.
