FARIDPUR: An activist of the ruling Awami League (AL) was killed and at least 12 others injured in a clash between people from two villages over arranging a picnic in Boalmari upazila of the district on Wednesday (August 3).

The deceased was identified as Moksed Sheikh, 55, hailed from Moyna village of the upazila.

Moyna union parishad chairman Nasir Mohammad Selim confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He further said there was a clash between the villagers of Moyna and Reninagar on August 2.

On the next day, over one hundred people from neighboring Reninagar village attacked the houses of Moksed Sheikh and Halim Sheikh in Moyna village with local weapons, leaving Moksed dead on the spot in the morning.

Faridpur assistant police super Aminur Rahman told banglanews that police recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College for autopsy.

“We are processing to file a case in this regard,” he added.
