Khaleda meets alliance leaders

DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia held a meeting with the members of 20-party alliance on Sunday night (August 21).

The two hour long meeting had began at her Gulshan political office in city around 8:45pm.

This was Khaleda Zia’s first meeting with the alliance leaders after BNP had announced its new central committee.

Competent sources told banglanews that the leaders discussed building national unity against recent militancy uprising in the country, proposed Rampal power plant and gas price hike.

The alliance leaders also talked at length about announcing programs against Rampal power plant, sources added.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, LDP chairman Oli Ahmed, Bangladesh Kalyan Party secretary general Syed Muhamamd Ibrahim, Bangladesh Jatiya Party secretary general Andalib Rahman Partha, among others, attended the meeting.

Earlier on August 18 (Thursday), Khaleda Zia held a meeting with party’s standing committee.
