TANGAIL: Member of Parliament (MP) of Tangail-3 (Ghatail) Amanur Rahman Khan Rana has been sent to jail in the murder case of freedom fighter and also ruling Awami League (AL) leader Faruk Ahammad in the district.

Earlier in the day, the warranted accused Rana surrendered to the court and plead for bail.

Tangail additional district and session judge Abul Mansur Mia passed the order Sunday morning (September 18) after rejecting his bail prayer.

On January 18, 2013, a group of miscreants shot dead district unit AL leader Faruk Ahmmed in front of his residence in Tangail town.

The deceased’s wife filed a case with Tangail Model Thana in this connection. Later police submitted a charge-sheet to the court accusing ten persons including the MP Rana in the case.
