RANGPUR: Police, in separate drives, arrested 50 people including a Jamaat-e-Islami activist from eight upazilas of the district on Saturday (October 29).

District police control room officer M Selim Ahmed confirmed the matter to Banglanews in the morning.

Rangpur superintendent of police (SP) Mizanur Rahman said acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers conducted the drive and arrested the persons.

All but the Jamaat man Moksedul Islam, 45, were arrested along with yaba tablets and Phensedyl.

The arrestees were sent to jail through the court.
