DHAKA: The Supreme Court Appellate Division Sunday asked to dispose of by January 19 next year a High Court rule issued over the trial proceedings of Niko graft case against BNP leader Moudud Ahmed.
The apex court gave the order upholding the HC order that stayed the trial proceedings against Moudud for eight weeks.
A four-member bench led by Chief Justice SK Sinha passed the order after hearing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against the HC stay order.
The ACC filed the graft case in December 2007 against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, former law minister Moudud Ahmed and several others for abusing powers to award a gas exploration and extraction deal to Canadian company Niko.
