BNP reiterates call for troops in NCC polls again

DHAKA: BNP has reiterated the need for army deployment in the upcoming Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls to guarantee a fair election.

BNP senior joint secretary general advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the assertion in a press conference at their central office in city’s Naya Paltan office on Monday (December 12).

He claimed that the incumbent government is not heeding to their repeated calls for troops at the polls because government’s own terrorist groups will be in trouble after realizing the demand.

Army deployment is necessary to ensure a fair election, otherwise voters will not show-up at the poll centers out of fear, he added.

Moreover, Rizvi hoped that BNP will win the election if Election Commission (EC) and government’s terrorist groups do not hinder at polls.
