DHAKA: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chairman Oli Ahmed, Bir Bikram, on Wednesday (December 21) said the President assured them about forming new election commission (EC).

He made the disclosure while addressing the journalists after holding a meeting with the President Abdul Hamid at his official residence Bangabhaban in the afternoon.

He further said they handed over 17-point proposal to the President.

LDP chairman said there is no question about the acceptability of the President.

“We have requested him to form an acceptable and non-partisan election commission,” he added.

Earlier, the LDP delegation, led by Oli Ahmed arrived at Bangabhaban around 2:45 pm.

Other members of the delegation are party’s secretary general Dr Redwan Ahmed, presidium members Abdul Karim Abbasi, Advocate Abu Yusuf, M Khalilur Rahman, Professor M Abdullah, Abdul Gani and senior joint secretary general Shahadat Hossain Selim.
