DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will not boycott the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) elections.
Party’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the comment while addressing the reporters at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka around 12:30 pm on Wednesday (December 21).
He said: “There can be no question of boycotting the election. The government will try to hijack the results in its favour but BNP won’t leave the ground.”
BNP chairperson’s adviser Abdus Salam, Abdul Qaium and senior leader ABM Mosharraf Hossain were, among others, present in the briefing.
Earlier in 2015, two candidates of BNP boycott the mayoral polls of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) around 12:00 pm on the polls day.
