PM closes all paths of discussion

DHAKA: BNP’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Prime Minister closed all paths of discussion by taking decision to keep the current cabinet and parliament active during the next general election.

He also said, “People never accept your (PM) decision to hold the general elections keeping the present Parliament in force.”

Fakhrul was speaking at a press conference after a meeting with the secretaries of 18-party at BNP’s Nayapaltan office on Tuesday.

He also said the meeting was to make the eight rallies of the party chairperson successful.

Slamming the government for the arrest of Mufti Wakkas, Mirza Fakhrul demanded his immediate release.

BNP secretary general also said, “Cabinet’s decision of snatching the polling rights of war crimes convicts is against rule of law and human rights as the issue is still to be settled by the appellate division.”

With the help of the people, 18-party alliance will make the government bound to arrange election under the caretaker government system, he added.

Jamaat’s central leader Dr Redaun Ullah Sayedee, Redwan Ahmed of LDP, Alamgir Majumder of NDP, Atiqul Islam of Muslim League, Fariduzzaman of NPP, joint general secretary of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi among others were present in the conference.
