DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has protested and condemned the eviction drive at the residence of her party’s standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed at Gulshan in the city.

Addressing an Iftar party on Wednesday (June 07), she strongly criticized the government for dragging out the BNP leader from his residence, which was illegally occupied by Moudud.

Khaleda Zia said that she was dragged out from her residence at Mainul Road in Cantonment in a single dress like Moudud.

Association of Engineers’ Bangaldesh (AEB), the pro-BNP engineers’ platform, arranged the Iftar party at International Convention Centre Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and senior other leaders of the party also joined the Iftar party.

Khaleda Zia said, “The government forcibly dragged our Moudud Ahmed in a single dress from the residence where he had been lived for 36 years. I was also forcibly dragged out in a single dress from my Cantonment residence where I had been lived for 40 years. Allah won’t tolerate the oppression. The people once will drag out them from their residences with single dress.”

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) on Wednesday noon carried out the eviction drive at the Gulshan residence of Moudud Ahmed illegally occupied by him and his brother.

Earlier on June 4, the Supreme Court rejected the review petition against earlier verdict asking Moudud Ahmed and his brother to leave their home holding plot no.159 in Gulshan-2.
