DHAKA: The dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by main opposition BNP district unit observed in Chittagong, Rangamati and Bandarban on Wednesday protesting verdict of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury.
In Rangamati: All kinds of vehicles and even in water way were halted during hartal hours.
BNP and its other front organizations brought out procession in Rangamati while additional police were in alert position to avert any violence there.
In Bandarban: The leader-activists took position on some roads of the town supporting hartal.
However, police obstructed their procession and locked them into a clash in the district.
On Tuesday, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 awarded death penalty to BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for his involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
