DHAKA: The two tons of Shamsur Rahman and Imrul Kayes helped Bangladesh survive in their first innings against the big 587-run score of the Sri Lanka on third day of the second and final Test in Chittagong on Thursday.

The hosts, however, lost two wickets to score 239 runs after the over-63 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Imrul Kayes is at the crease with 102 runs while Shamsur Rahman bowled out after getting 106 runs.

Earlier on Wednesday, Bangladesh lost Tamim Iqbal for a duck in the first over. Lakmal bagged the wicket.

According to espncricinfo.com, the second day of the test has belonged to Kumar Sangakkara, who recorded his maiden Test triple century. He herded Sri Lanka’s lower order quite brilliantly to post 587 and would have been quite pleased after Suranga Lakmal got one to say low and rattle Tamim Iqbal’s stumps.

Sri Lanka scored 587 runs for all wickets in the first innings on the second day of the test. Sangakkara and Jayawardene scored 319 and 72 runs respectively.

Shakib Al Hasan bagged five wickets while Nasir Hossain took two wickets. Besides, Al-Amin Hossain, sohag Gazi and Mahmudullah picked up one wicket each.

Earlier on January 30, Sri Lanka won the first Test against the hosts by innings and 248 runs in Mirpur.
