Afridi sixes seal final-over victory

DHAKA: Defending champion Pakistan chased down India’s 250-run in their must win battle in the sixth match of the 2014 Asia Cup on Sunday.

Shahid Afridi scored the winning run for Pakistan hitting two 6s on 3rd and the 4th ball of the 50th over while Mohammad Hafeez scored 75 runs.

R Ashwin took three wickets while B Kumar and A Mishra bagged two wickets each.

India scored 250 runs for eight in their innings in the day/night match at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur in the capital.

RG Sharma, AT Rayudu and RA Jadeja scored 56, 58 and 52 (not out) for India respectively.

Saeed Ajmal took three wickets for Pakistan while Mohammad Talha and Mohammad Hafeez picked up two wickets and Umar Gul bagged one wicket.        

On Sunday, the two countries resumed hostilities as they face off for the first time since the ICC Champions Trophy in June.

Earlier, the two teams were defeated by Sri Lanka in the ongoing tournament.
