Bangladesh's wicketkeeper-batter, Mushfiqur Rahim, has announced his retirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket. 

The 37-year-old, who holds the record for the most ODI caps for Bangladesh with 274 matches, revealed the news on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday night.

Mushfiqur, the second-highest run-scorer for Bangladesh in ODIs with 7,795 runs, expressed gratitude for his career. 

In his statement, he said, “While our achievements may have been limited on a global level, one thing is certain: whenever I stepped onto the field for my country, I gave more than 100% with dedication and honesty.”

He also reflected on the challenges in recent weeks, quoting a verse from the Quran and thanking his family, friends, and fans for their support over the past 19 years.

Throughout his ODI career, Rahim scored 9 centuries and 49 half-centuries, maintaining an average of 36.42.
