The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) has officially postponed the SAFF Championship to 2026.
Originally planned for this year in a new home-and-away format, the delay comes after joint consultations with member associations and commercial partner SportFive.
The decision aims to ensure the tournament meets its growing stature and organizational standards.
"This decision was not taken lightly," SAFF stated, emphasizing the need for thorough preparation to deliver a world-class event.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, SAFF also highlighted the importance of aligning with the global football calendar.
While the delay may disappoint fans, the Federation believes it’s a necessary step toward elevating South Asia’s premier football competition.
Supporters are urged to stay patient as SAFF promises a more competitive and grander tournament upon its return in 2026.
