DHAKA: Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman Safayet Sobhan handed over the man of the match prize to the left arm spinner Taijul Islam in the 1st Test against visiting Zimbabwe in Mirpur on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Safayet Sobhan went to the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium around 1:30pm and enjoyed the performance of the Tigers.

At the end of the match, he handed over a cheque of US $1,500 to Taijul Islam.

Zahid Ahsan Rasel MP was also present in the prize giving ceremony.

Taijul’s 8 for 39, the third-best haul by a left-arm spinner and best figure by any Bangladesh bowler in Tests, set up a tame target of 101 runs.

Bangladesh won the test by three wickets despite terrific performance by the top order batsmen in the fourth innings.
