DHAKA: Visiting Indian started facing the bowling attacks of host Bangladesh in the one-off Test at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah of Narayanganj on Wednesday.

The match kicked off at 10:00am local time.

Murali Vijay opened the Indians’ innings with Shikhar Dhawan on the other end of the crease while Mohammad Shahid bowled the first over.

Earlier, Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss decided to bat first.
Mushfiqur Rahim says it looks like a flat pitch that will get "slower and slower". Unlucky to lose the toss, he concedes. "If it's hot, the wicket will break up very soon."

Virat Kohli says India will "look to make the best of a good batting surface. Three seamers, two offspinners, and six batsmen."
“It was pretty strange feeling for me when I was announced. I never thought I would be Test captain of India at 26. I have the responsibility of taking the team forward and it is pretty exciting for me. I have the opportunity to do something special for Indian cricket," says Kohli.
Liton Kumar Das became the 77th test debutant for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh have less to lose from this series than India. If India loses to Bangladesh, they will drop to seventh in the ICC Test rankings, with 95 points. If the match is drawn, India will drop to 97 points but will stay above England and Pakistan. Victory will keep them at No. 3.

India have not visited since 2010. In seven Tests in Bangladesh, India have won six and drawn one.

Fatullah hosted more than 120 matches in the 2014-15 domestic season but the pitch is unlikely to show wear and tear early in the game.
