DHAKA: Tigers captain (ODI and T20) Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has expressed his hope that the team will be able to win against visiting Zimbabwe if they could continue their performances of the matches during World Cup 2015.

Mashrafe was holding a press conference at a city hotel on Friday (November 6), a day ahead of the upcoming limited-over match against the visitors.

While asked about losing the only preparation match in Fatullah, the captain said there is no scope to take Zimbabwe team lightly. The visitors clinched the won playing well. It was not easy to win chasing 280 runs.

‘They are a balanced batting team. Their team has a great combination,’ the tiger captain added.

However, Mashrafe said their only target is to win.

‘We want to win each match against Zimbabwe, we have that confidence. It is possible to whitewash them,’ said Mashrafe.

‘I think that both the series will be highly competitive. The first game of any series is important. Confidence comes automatically if a team wins the first match. We must go into the match to win tomorrow,’ he added.

The three-day ODI series and two-match T20 series against the visiting Zimbabwe will begins on Saturday (November 7) at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla national stadium.

Visiting Zimbabweans beat Mashrafe-led Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI by seven wickets in the only practice match at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah of Narayanganj on Thursday.
