Dhaka Dynamites Made a Winning Start

Dhaka Dynamites (DD) Vs Comilla Victorians (CV) BPL T20 Match Played at SBNS

Dhaka Dynamites 112 for 4 (Nasir Jamshed 44, KC Sangakkara 25 Abu Hider 2-17) beat Comilla Victorians 110 for 8 (Mashrafe 25 , Mahmudul Hasan 22, Abul Hasan 3-29, Mosharraf Hossain 2-15) by six wickets.

Player of the Match: Abul Hasan (DD)

Much was expected of the match but little was achieved. After a high scoring thriller in the opening match this was a reverse. Mashrafe’s Comilla Victorians feel like pack of cards to enterprising DD bowling.

Captain courageous had to play a late order saving the grace innings of 25. Still 111 in modern day T20 cannot be  considered a winning score.

Mashrafe handled his resources smartly stretching the match till last over. His bowlers bowled tight length and line and fielded with agility. Another 25 -30 runs could make it a good contest.

Batting first CV scored a paltry 110 /8. DD made heavy weather in chasing that target. We are not sure whether the wicket changed character in the evening. Otherwise, we cannot find any logical explanation of such a low scoring match, which witnessed run feast in the first match.

CV batting did not appear to me its forte. Kayes and Liton are two national stars CV had high hopes. Both fell to casual strokes creating tension from where the team could not recover. Samauels also did not do justice to his reputation.

Shubhgato Hom is not batsman who can feature at number four in a match. When a team loses 5 wickets for 36 runs by 8th over it becomes a challenge for them to survive the full quota of overs.

Moreover, batting is very thin of Comilla Victorians. Other than Mahamudul Hasan none of the late order may even be approached as batsman even in Dhaka league. Consequently it became 6/59 and 7/66.

Captain courageous had to play his characteristics aggressive innings of 25 putting shame to his more accomplished top order. Mahmudul Hasan contributed 22. Santokie struck some blows to take the score somehow to three figures.

Credit must be given to Dhaka bowling also. Abul Hasan, Farhad Reza and Musharraf bowled brilliantly. Teenage sensation Mustafiz was possibly too good for these below par CV batsmen.

He was brought for one over early, bowled Samuels with a beauty and was held back by Sangakkara. He will be required against better battening units. Abul Hasan took 3/29 and Mosharraf Hossain 2/ 15.

Chasing 111 for victory should not have been a huge issue. But DD possibly took it too easy. True they were not in a hurry. But in T20 also rotating strokes can bring 4 -5 runs in every over. Still DD huffed and puffed in reaching 112 / 4 in 19.2 overs.

Young Ali Haider bowled 4 very impressive overs taking 2/ 17. The ball he got Sangakkara was a beauty. Mashrafe again gave break through and bowled reasonably tight taking 1 / 23. Pakistan discard Nasir Jamshed scored run a ball 44. Sangakkara contributed 25.

It was only the brilliance of Mashrafe the way he shuffled his bowling resources, set the field which took the match almost to distance. Both the team has to improve a lot to become competitive in the tournament.
