DHAKA: Bangladesh national cricket team Test and T20 squads Skipper Shakib Al Hasan on Sunday (October 14) expressed his hope to return to sport as infection in his finger is under control.
According to his physician, Shakib must wait 6 to 12 more months for undergoing surgery, even if it is necessary.
The ace all-rounder returned home this morning after undergoing treatment in Australia under physician Greg Hoy.
He briefed media after the Singapore Airlines carrying Shakib Al Hasan had landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:40 am.
Shakib said although his physician directed him not to undergo any surgery in next six months to one year, he can continue playing cricket as the infection in the finger bone is under control.
“But the better side it, it may be possible to play without any surgery. As there is no scope of surgery, the matter now in consideration is how to playing possible sans the surgery,” said Shakib.
While asked about the update on his injured finger, he said: “Update is well. The infection is in control. But, it has to be examined through blood test each month.”
The 31-year-old all-rounder is now expecting to return to the field but it will depend totally on his rehabilitation and the finger strength.
However, Shakib further said when he will be total eligible to play, can’t be fixed specifically right now. “It may be in next month or even after six months.”
He took treatment to his little finger at a hospital in Melbourne. The hospital released him on Friday (Oct 11).
